We are off to a great start!

The 2017-2018 school year started this week, and we have had a great first week!  God has blessed us with a great group of students and teachers!  We are excited to see our students grow academically and spiritually this year!

We are still enrolling Kindergarten through 10th grade!

Piano Lessons!!

We are excited to coordinate piano lessons with our music teacher Melissa DiGrazio!!
Intro to Piano Classes
  • These classes are semi-private (2 to 3 students) class for 5 & 6 year olds to learn music theory and piano skills using developmentally appropriate games, activities, and exercises.
  • This  class is a great way to build a foundation for future private lessons for any instrument.
  • Class length is 45 minutes.
  • The tuition includes all materials and is $180 for 10 classes (once a week).
Private Piano Lessons
  • Beginner and intermediate lessons are available for students at least 7 years old and older (6 yrs old for piano if child has taken 1 sessions of Intro to Piano).
  • Lessons are 30 minutes, and each student must sign up for a minimum of 8 lessons. Call for availability.
  • Lessons can be scheduled to start any time of year.
  • Tuition cost is $28 per 30 minute lesson.

Meet our New High School Teacher!!

The Light Academy is excited to introduce Mr. John Hopkins who will be teaching in our high school for the 2016-2017 school year. Mr. Hopkins holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of North Texas with a minor in Physical Education/Kinesiology.   He also has an endorsement in Special Education from the University of Central Arkansas.  His experience includes teaching algebra, economics, consumer education, geometry, government, history, woodshop, Spanish, and coaching baseball, football, and track at the high school level.  Mr. Hopkins has experience as an Athletic Director, Lead Teacher, and supervisor of the student government, and he has experience with curriculum design.

Aside from his teaching and coaching experience, Mr. Hopkins loves the Lord and has served as a Bible study leader with his wife at his former church in Illinois before relocating to Virginia.  He currently attends Calvary Chapel Fluvanna.

We are excited to have Mr. Hopkins join The Light Academy staff!
